Getting Started

Welcome to BopSuite

Welcome. This article is the 2-minute tour of how BopSuite fits together so you can hit the ground running.

The core idea

Every piece of work in BopSuite hangs off a matter. A matter is the central organizing unit — what BopDocs / law firms call a case, what CPAs call an engagement, what some firms just call a project. Whatever the label in your industry, it's the unit that has:

  • One client (sometimes two — divorce, business partnership)
  • A status (open, on hold, closed)
  • Tasks, calendar events, messages, doc requests, invoices, signed documents — all attached
  • A clear owner (the responsible attorney / CPA on your team)

Once you grasp the matter is the trunk and everything else is a branch, the rest of the product makes sense.

Your first 15 minutes

  1. Add your first client — Sidebar → Clients → New client. Just name + email is enough; you can fill in details later.
  2. Open a matter for them — From the client's detail page, click "+ New matter." Pick the type (Case / Engagement / Matter depending on your firm's vertical), give it a name like "2026 Tax Prep" or "Smith v. Jones."
  3. Send your first doc request — From the matter, click "Send doc request." Pick a starter template (we ship ~10 per industry), review the pre-filled merge fields, send.
  4. Watch the magic — Your client gets a branded email. They click, land on a portal page, upload files. Each upload auto-renames using AI ("Smith - Bank Statement - Mar 2026.pdf" instead of "IMG_4521.jpg").

What's where in the sidebar

  • My day — Today's tasks + events + items needing review. Start your day here.
  • Inbox — Notifications: new submissions, overdue requests, unread messages.
  • Calendar — Cross-matter calendar view + per-user ICS feed.
  • Clients — Persistent client records (they outlast individual matters).
  • Matters — Active cases / engagements.
  • Doc Requests — All your sent document collection requests, across matters.
  • Invoices — Time-tracked billing + Stripe-powered client payments.
  • Intake forms (if your plan supports it) — Public prospect-facing forms that auto-create matters.
  • Templates — Reusable doc-request checklists, organized by industry.
  • Workflows — Pre-defined task sequences ("Divorce intake," "New client tax prep") you apply to a matter to auto-generate a 6-12 step task list.
  • Conflicts — Search across all clients/contacts for potential conflicts before opening a new matter.
  • Settings — Org info, team, billing, payments (Stripe Connect).
